Tragedy is often followed by growth; Action UAE’s 2024 certainly follows that narrative. Just months before we started year-long celebrations to mark our 30-year anniversary of operations in the Emirates, we lost our enigmatic founder and chairman, Tony Christodoulou.

It’s a sombre note on which to introduce the Agency, but it provides crucial context for what has been a monumental 12 months, topped by winning Best Agency Middle East at the PR Week Global Awards in London. As we mark our Pearl Anniversary in the land of pearl diving, the achievements of the past year run deep. We retained 92% of clients and added 30 new local and international brands, including four multi-year Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism work streams that contribute upwards of Dh3m in gross revenue per annum. The result is in 2023 we posted Dh20.6m in gross revenue, achieved a 14% increase in net profit, and “broke even” for the year on July 19 – an agency record. We also added two new units to our UAE floorspace and re-established a physical in-market presence in Saudi Arabia. Tony may not be here to see it, but if he were he’d be proud. This is for him.
